Lee and I are mall walking champions! We meet up almost every weekend for a little exercise and a lot of catching up. I recently learned about a cool social good fitness app that will allow us to earn money for social organizations at the same time! Using Charity Miles makes our mall walking a trifecta event: Fun and Fitness for us and Funds for a charity!
Mall Walking Champions For Good!
Charity Miles is so easy to use. Simple download the app (it’s free) and turn it on when you are ready to exercise. It will ask you to choose a charity (they vary) – I chose shot@life - then just press start. The app will track your distance, time and money earned. Once you finish, you accept your sponsorship and they will send you a note confirming your good work. Bikers earn $0.10/mile and walkers and runners earn $0.25/mile.
The United Nations Foundation
and Charity Miles
are partnering for the month of February in order to encourage people to help raise 10k just by downloading the app and participating in its virtual #VDay10k by talking a walk, run or bike ride.
The #Vday10k challenge will run through the month of February when you’ll be able to donate your distance to a variety of United Nations Foundation campaigns. The participating campaigns include Girl Up
, where your miles will help a teen girl in a developing country safely attend school, Nothing but Nets
where you will help protect a family from malaria, and Shot@Life
where your miles will help to provide life-saving vaccines to children around the world that need it most.
I am so excited to have discovered the Charity Miles app – I plan on using it all the time!
