5 Year Bloggiversary

Congrats to the winner, #74 Charlene! Thanks to everyone for helping me celebrate my 5 year bloggiversary!

Five years ago today I started my blogging adventure. My initial goal was to inspire other people to save money by sharing my tips and shopping trips. A lot of my original posts were exactly that, pictures from my shopping trips with specific prices and coupons used. In fact here is my first ever blog post. I notice some bloggers make it hard to find their old posts and I know why. It’s like sharing awkward pictures from your childhood.

Desert Deals Diva

For some of my newest readers, you might not realize that my blog started out as Desert Deals Diva. It was a good name for a Tucson girl sharing money-saving tips. The problem was I didn’t think “diva” described me. Plus my money-saving tips immediately evolved from just shopping trips to how we saved money for trips to Disneyland and tips to save money while on vacation. And that was ok but those topics were gateway topics for me. :-) I started sharing other things I loved which didn’t necessarily fit a frugal blog. And yet I felt like my name Desert Deals Diva pigeon-holed me into frugal blogging.

Chica Ramblings

My solution? Start a 2nd blog. I purposely kept the title, Chica Ramblings vague so I could share anything I wanted. Unfortunately having two blogs proved too time consuming for this mama. Plus some topics could fit on either blog and I found it frustrating to decide where to post it. I needed another solution.

Desert Chica Ramblings

Last year I decided to combine both blogs and rebrand it as Desert Chica Ramblings. It lets me blog about anything from saving money and projects around the house to organizations I want to support and our travel adventures. I think it’s a good fit for me!

Giveaway Time!

Let’s celebrate my 5 year Bloggiversary! Personally I think celebrations should include cupcakes for everyone but since I can’t make that happen, let’s do a giveaway instead! To celebrate I am giving away a $50 gift card, winner’s choice as long as I can buy and send it online.
