Don't miss the costume post about the entire Peter Pan Neverland Crew, one of my favorite family Halloween themes to date!
I have to admit that Elliot’s Mr. Smee costume is definitely my favorite this year.
And in case you aren’t a Disney fan, Mr. Smee is Captain Hook’s side kick from Peter Pan and Jake and the Never Land pirates.
I had quite a few pieces to pull together but I did it for under $15! I was hoping for under $10 but I am going to call this a win!
My biggest challenge was the striped shirt. I ended up stalking eBay until I found a pretty close match. I bought it for $8.13 shipped.
If I thought the shirt was hard, somehow the shorts were harder. Medium blue is not a common little boy color. I ended up finding girls leggings at Walmart that were a great color match. I just cut them off and made them shorts.
My favorite deal was Mr. Smee’s signature hat. Once I realized it was simply a modified Santa hat, I was easily able to make one! Check out how my How to Make a Mr. Smee Hat post!
The glasses ended up being slightly more challenging than I thought. It was easy to find readers at a local dollar store for $1 but removing the actual lenses took some work!
I bought foam pirate swords at the Target $1 spot. Possibly for even less than $1 but I don’t recall for sure. Still a great deal even at the full price of a buck!
And Elliot already had the brown sandals, so free.
Tell me, did I do a good job with E’s Mr. Smee Costume?

So cute! Great job!! I hope you guys have a blast tomorrow!
That is so Adorable!! Love it.
So cute!! Great tips! My 16 month old is going as Mr. Smee this year and I was excited to come across your blog. Pretty sure he won’t keep glasses or a hat on, but it’ll be worth a shot. I passed the Dollar Store today thinking I wouldn’t find anything in there. Guess I’ll be looking tomorrow! Thanks!
Yay! We saw a couple of Mr. Smee’s at Disneyland… definitely not something you can buy at a costume store. So glad I could help!
I made my Mr. smee costume for my 16 month old. I’d love to share it with you, but I’m not sure how I could do that. Everyone loves it!
