Historic Greer Dining: Molly Butler Lodge Restaurant Review

July 22, 2012 · 11 comments

We spent 2 great days in Greer and I plan on sharing our experiences with you. First up is our dinner at the Molly Butler Lodge!

The Molly Butler Lodge in Greer

The Molly Butler Lodge Restaurant has been an iconic Arizona dining establishment for over 100 years! As you drive through the tiny mountain community of Greer, you’d have a hard time missing the Molly Butler. It stands out as an authentically rustic establishment with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.

In fact both their dining room and patio face out on to the fantastic views. It was a little drizzly when we arrived but since a fire was lit and we had hoodies, we opted to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the view!

Of course Quinn really enjoyed using the tourist viewfinder. Kids & Quarters. Smile

And Peter really enjoyed his Molly Butler Amber! Dads & Beer. Winking smile

And I am happy to report the food was fantastic!

As a mom, my first stop on a menu is always the kids section. I was happy to see 7 different kid entrées and several side choices including cottage cheese. Both boys like cottage cheese but I am pretty sure Elliot could live on it!

There was also a good selection for adults including Molly Butler’s award winning, slow roasted prime rib. While neither of us opted to try the prime rib, Peter did order Molly’s Famous “Hot Dang” Chili which is an 87 year old recipe made from Molly’s prime rib!  It had nice big chunks of meat in it! He also enjoyed an order of the Chef’s Buffalo Wings.

I was immediately drawn to the Trout Almondine on the menu. I tend to be nostalgic for trout, it reminds me of fishing (and eating what we caught) as a child on camping trips.  We had plans to fish with the boys the next morning but I was pretty sure we wouldn’t catch anything. And I was right! Winking smile

The Trout Almondine did not disappoint. The slivers of almonds worked really well with the trout. And I should point out it’s a Molly Butler Signature Entrée which means it is a tried and true Molly’s favorite! I would definitely order it again!

If you find yourself in Greer I definitely recommend eating at the Molly Butler Lodge!

Stay tuned, I have more adventures from Greer to share with you!

That is awesome! Are you going specifically for the Kick Ash Bash weekend or did you just get lucky? :-)
